Povidone Iodine (5% w/v) solution is a widely used, fast-acting, broad-spectrum antiseptic and disinfectant for external use. It is an aqueous solution containing a complex of povidone and elemental iodine, which appears as a clear, reddish-brown liquid.

Preparation of skin and mucous membrane including vagina prior to surgery. Burn 1st, 2nd & 3rd Degree. Post operative cleaning to prevent against possible infections. Topical treatment of moniliasis, tricomoniasis & non-specific vaginitis. Bacterial mycotic infections such as pyodermas, otitis externa, tinea pedis, tinea cruris, tinea corporis, tinea versicolor, cutaneous candidiasis. PIPDINE is virtually non-stinging and non- irritant to skin wounds & mucous membrane. It kills both gram positive & negative bacteria, particularly those encountered in skin infections such as staphylococci, streptococci, proteus & pseudomonas aeruginosa including those resistant to antibiotics. The microbial action is also extended to fungi, viruses, protozoa and yeasts. The microbial activity is retained in the presence of blood pus and serum.
