The Marcusson apparatus, Dean-Stark apparatus, DeanStark receiver, distilling trap, or DeanStark Head is a piece of laboratory glassware used in synthetic chemistry to collect water (or occasionally other liquid) from a reactor. It is used in combination with a reflux condenser and a distillation flask for the separation of water from liquids.
Made of 3.3 borosilicate glass Uniform wall distribution of the Flask makes it suitable for heating Consists of a graduated 10 ml Receiver with 0.1 ml intervals
With double PTFE stopcock
Used for easy separation of water
PTFE Stopcock allows for the withdraw or return of the distillate during the distillation process.
An extra Stopcock is fixed to maintain or to stop the flow of the liquid.
