CAREER AS A DECK OFFICER IN MERCHANT NAVY A Deck Officer starts his career as a Deck Cadet. During the pre-sea training, he will prepared for the Nautical disciplines and will be responsible for the Navigation, Cargo handling maintenance and other associated duties on board merchant navy ships. After specified periods of intervening sea service on Board a ship, cadet can progress to the rank of Captain. The career in Merchant Navy as Deck Officer is very rewarding both financially and also in job satisfaction, an opportunity to see the world. Meet different people enabling to broaden the horizons and totally free. PRESEA COURSE The training provides a 10+2 pass students to become a qualified Deck Officer. On selection you will go 3 ½ months residential Pre-sea training at Avalon Maritime Training Centre, Chandigarh. At Avalon Maritime training institute apart from the academies you will undergo practical training in seaman ship, Navigation, Cargo, Chart work, Collision, Prevention, Machine shop, Electrical shop , Hot work training and also followed by the Standard Certification and Watch keeping Training as per the STCW'95, IMO regulations. On completion of Pre-sea training of 3 ½ months you will undertake the sea phase training as a deck cadet on board ship. Educatioanl Qualifications : Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination Age : 16-25 Years Medical Standards : Candidates should be physically and mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard norms Eye Sight : 6/6 without glasses, and no color blindness. (Candidate is subjected to medical examination). Duration of Training : 3 ½ Months (The course is non- statutory) Admission Procedure : Admission is made directly by the Avalon Maritime Training Centre of Merchant Navy for sponsored cadets and we also select and train cadets on behalf of foreign companies or their agents on the basis of their requirements for deck cadets.
