Solar Thermal Energy is generated by harnessing the Solar Heat with the help of thermal collectors. The low temperature collectors or flat plates generally are used for hot water applications, the medium temperature collectors for the solar steam cookers and the high temperature collectors for the electrical generation. The solar radiation is concentrated by mirrors or lenses to obtain high temperature by technique called Centralized Solar Power CSP Plant. The heat generated by the CSP Plant is then exchanged with water for generation for steam and run the steam turbine for generating electricity. Another technique is to focus the concentrated heat to a STIRLING machine and directly produce the electricity. These can be cascaded to MWs of capacity.
