Amoxicillin is mainly used for any infection caused by susceptible microorganisms that are non-penicillinase in nature. It can be used to treat acute typical pneumonia, bronchitis, epiglottitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis and sinusitis. It can also be used to treat UTI’s. Another function of Amoxicillin is to treat skin and soft tissue infections and gastrointestinal infections.
Amoxicillin works by tackling its bactericidal properties against several gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. It majorly operates through inhibiting the biosynthesis of the cell wall.
Potential Side Effects include infections and infestations in the form of Mucocutaneous Candidiasis. Vomiting, diarrhoea, colitis and gastrointestinal infections are some of the side effects. Hypersensitivity reactions like anaphylaxis can occur as a side effect of Amoxicillin. Hemic-lymphatic systems, the Renal system and the Central Nervous System may get affected due to the side effects of Amoxicillin.
